The Piksel Group services a range of clients across the broadcast & media, telecommunications, retail, transport, public sector, faith and healthcare industries, and has been doing so for over twenty years. Our industry subsidiary organisations are narrowly focused on solving the challenges of and providing the services needed by these industries, be it cloud migration, the unification of analogue and digital workflows, technical design, development and implementation, peerless systems integration services or flexible, ongoing support and monitoring.

Our teams utilise productised solutions, combinations of shrink wrapped, feature focused modules and bespoke software development, alongside a cloud-first approach, backed up by data centres across the world, to deliver the technology solutions our clients require. We discuss, whiteboard and prototype in a truly collaborative approach, working hand in hand with our clients from strategy through to delivery to ensure business goals are achieved.

Executive Team
Ralf Tillmann
Interim Chief Executive Officer

As Interim Chief Executive Officer, Ralf Tillmann is responsible for the overall management and direction of the Piksel Group.

Ralf joined Piksel Group in September 2012 and brings over 15 years of experience in integration, adaptation and business reconstruction gained as Executive Vice President of Integrated Dynamics Engineering. Prior to joining Piksel Group, he was General Manager for VEECO Instruments Metrology Group Europe in Mannheim, Germany and GM / EVP of Integrated Dynamics Engineering for over 10 years.

Ralf began his education at the Technical University of Munich with MS in Physics and then PhD in Biophysics. He then decided to move away from science into technology commercialization and marketing specializing in augmenting business profitability and cost-effectiveness.

Mark Christie
Chief Technology Officer

As Chief Technology Officer, Mark Christie is responsible for Piksel Group’s client solutions including product strategy, innovation, and management, solution deployment, research and development, and global network infrastructure.

Mark joined Piksel Group in April 2011, after the acquisition of IP video solutions provider ioko, where he was CEO and co-founder, growing the company over fifteen years from a UK-based business with two employees to an international business with 350 staff and operations worldwide. In addition to leading ioko’s management team and overseeing its client accounts, business development, and operational support organization, Mark built the managed service infrastructure to support tier-one customers like ITV, Channel 4, the BBC, and AT&T.

He holds a Masters degree in Electronic Systems Engineering from the University of York.

Ruth Patterson
General Counsel

As General Counsel, Ruth Patterson is responsible for Piksel’s global legal and compliance function including managing client and vendor contracts, managing corporate governance and advising the company’s other officers and board members. In addition, Ruth has responsibility for oversight of the global human resources function, including compliance, recruitment and employee development.

Prior to joining Piksel, Ruth trained and practiced at the global law firm Herbert Smith Freehills LLP for five years specialising in corporate, commercial and finance law and working for a number of FTSE 250 clients, before spending eighteen months as legal counsel for a global asset manager.

Ruth studied law at the University of Manchester followed by a Legal Practice Course and masters in Professional Legal Practice at BPP University Law School in London.

Board
Bill Russell
Non-Executive Chairman of the Board

Bill Russell has served as non-executive Chairman of the Board since June 2012. He also holds the positions of non-executive Chairman of the Board of PROS Holdings, Inc., a leader in pricing and revenue management software, and of Director of Saba Software, Inc., a provider of people-centric enterprise solutions. Bill is a member of the Audit and Compensation Committees of Saba Software’s board.

Bill lends his broad knowledge of large-scale software operations, including sales, marketing, development, finance, strategic planning and leadership, to Piksel. He served in a number of senior-level executive management roles in his 23 years at Hewlett-Packard, including Vice President and General Manager of the multi-billion dollar Enterprise Systems Group and its Software Solutions Group. Bill has also served in a variety of roles on both public and private technology company boards and previously served on the boards of webMethods and Cognos.

Bill holds a B.Sc. degree in Computer Science from Edinburgh University.

Peter Heiland
Director

Peter Heiland joined Piksel Group as a Director in August 2012. He is a Managing Director of JEC Capital Partners (JEC), a technology focused investment firm that was founded in 2009. JEC successfully led the recovery of shareholder value in Miranda Technologies (MT.TO) and was also a significant shareholder of the GSI Group (NASDAQ: GSIG), participating in the statutory Equity Committee during the GSI’s Chapter 11 process, engineering its recapitalization, and remaining active as a board member in the reorganized company.

Prior to founding JEC, Peter was the founder and CEO of Integrated Dynamics Engineering (IDE). IDE designs, manufactures, and sells environmental control systems, robotics, and motion control systems for semiconductor metrology and lithography equipment. In January of 2008, IDE was acquired by Aalberts Industries (AMS: AALB).

Matt Dunham
Director

Matt Dunham has been a Managing Director at Prescott Group Capital Management since 2012.

Previously, Matt held investment management positions at various financial institutions including Highland Capital Management and Goldman Sachs. Mr. Dunham has earned the right to use the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.

Matt graduated summa cum laude from Saint Louis University with concentrations in Finance and Mathematics.

John Honeycutt
Director

John Honeycutt joined Discovery in 2003 and has held several senior executive positions in both the United States and internationally, where he has been an integral contributor to the consistent growth of Discovery around the world. As CTO of Discovery, John has global responsibility for the entire technology stack.

Before joining Discovery in 2003, John served as Senior Vice President of Broadcast Operations for Fox Cable Networks in Los Angeles. A recipient of Broadcasting & Cable’s Technology Leadership Award, as well as being named a 2015 Broadcasting & Cable Digital All-Star, John holds a bachelor’s degree in communications from Fitchburg State College.

Gerry O’Sullivan
Director

Gerry O’Sullivan is an International Media Executive with extensive experience in broadcasting, Pay TV and media sectors across three continents. He brings a unique perspective on how digital content and new technologies can support and create new revenue streams for businesses.

After a career starting at the BBC, Gerry launched Australia’s first 24-hour news channel, a Business and Sports channel in New York and then was asked to lead the engineering and operational teams for Fox News, New York.

Returning to the UK, Gerry managed the strategy and execution of BSKYB’s TV user proposition, where he was responsible for launching numerous online and mobile innovations. After 10 years at Sky, Gerry was asked to lead Deutsche Telekom’s Global TV and Entertainment businesses.

Most recently, as Interim CEO for Digicel’s TV group, Gerry launched a number of next generation cloud based IPTV and quad play services throughout the Caribbean, South America and the Pacific.
